Current available Numerically Controlled(NC)Engraving Machines are bulky,expensive,and highly specialized.It is not easy to extend their functionality or to support their software applications.It is therefore difficult to achieve professional teaching content of mechatronics integration technology.Due to these problem,we seek to develop a Mini Engraving Machine Software System as a teaching tool.This research mainly focuses on the following aspects:1.According to the control requirements of the Mini Engraving Machine System,the software system structure is constructed.By utilizing DVP-PM PLC series and DOP-B series touch screen,a control system that combines PLC control program and touch screen based HMI software is realized.The system parameter can be configured by uploading run data to the host computer using network technology.2.Based on PLC,the development of control program of the Mini Engraving Machine System is completed.Using the “Art CAM Pro” software,a 3D engraving model is designed,and a tool path is generated.Using the PLC programming software “PM soft”,PLC LAD program is designed,the import of G code is achieved,the engraving function of the Mini Engraving Machine is completed,and precise positioning is achieved so that the processing precision is more accurate.3.Using touch screen based HMI system,the monitoring function of the Mini Engraving Machine is achieved.The touch screen is used as a supervisory monitoring system.Screen Editor is used to design monitoring screen.The functionalities of display,operation,debugging,and data storage are achieved.The design of our Mini Engraving Machine System is simple,low cost,and has an open hardware and software structure.It can realize automatic management and remote monitoring of the system.Not only does it have market value,it also satisfies the need of open experimental teaching in universities.
