The rapid rise of the internet society and the reform of mass communication technology are increasingly shaping a free and open public cyberspace,and the "Tucao" groups with teenagers as the main participants suddenly rise to be a new force,setting off the tide of cultural shocks in China.Originated in Japan,"Tucao" is a fearless,wide and young expression relying on the development of public cyberspace.Its original meaning is a kind of sharp criticism of other peoples' words,things and phenomena.After the improvement and spreading of Chinese internet media,especially the prompting of new media such as Weibo,Tieba,BBS and video websites,"Tucao" has evolved into a youth subculture phenomenon.In March 2017,the new internet variety show "Roast" from the perspective of "Tucao culture" became a phenomenon-level internet variety show with nearly five billion broadcast amount.In January 2019,the third season of "Roast" ended,and continued the industry myth with data.With regarding to this,we view "Roast" as a social culture specimen and will analyze the cultural meaning and social value behind it: what is the origin of "Tucao culture",Why it is so famous,what kind of characteristics it has,how it is presented in "Roast",how it is spread,what is its connection with culture,politics,economy? Meanwhile,inorder to provide feasible suggestions for the development of internet variety shows and even youth subcultures,the problem of "Tucao culture" in "Roast" will also be reflected in this issue."Tucao culture" is an extension of the youth subculture.By selecting the representative new Internet variety show "Roast" as a case,this paper explores and analyzes this emerging cultural type.Because of its new form,new content and new value,"Roast" stands out in the comprehensive internet variety show market and meets the audience's needs for entertainment,social communication and self-identity.Firstly,the prosperity of "Roast" has its significant social motivation.The changes of media technology,communication mechanism and social psychology directly prompt the prosperity of "Tucao culture".Secondly,in terms of the presentation of "Tucao culture" in "Roast",The specific rhetoric of "Tucao culture" is highlighted by "self-mockery","ridicule","parody","collage" and other Tucao techniques.Additionally,the influence of political,economic and other social power mechanisms on "Tucao culture" cannot be ignored.On the one hand,it will definitely encounter the regulation and elimination of politics when the "Tucao culture" touches the mine field of mainstream culture.The “Roast” under the supervision of national policies shows the trend of discourse collusion and alternative carnival.On the other hand,when "Roast" encounters the incorporation of commodity modes,thecommercial characteristics of "Roast" are fully explored,and "Roast" becomes a tool for organizations to make profits.To certain extent,the new Internet variety show "Roast" has enriched and expanded the political and economic connotation of "Tucao culture".Along with the popularity of "Roast","Tucao culture" shows the typical representation of ritual resistance and national carnival,and certainly,a series of negative effects are also bred.From the national level,features of the fragmented content,excessive entertainment and extreme emotions of "Tucao culture" have caused a certain impact and threat to Chinese mainstream culture.In terms of the social level,texts of“Tucao” dispels meaning,creates conflicts and lacks rationality,which confuses some teenagers' values.Thus,paying attention to text innovation,subdividing the audience market,perfecting talent mechanism can ensure benign and healthy development of the new internet variety show "Roast" in China.With the correct guidance by multiple measures at the same time,"Tucao culture" can bring us new opportunities for the development of social multi-culture.
