Research On New Year's Message Of People's Daily (1979-2018)

People's Daily,as the most authoritative and representative traditional paper media in China,its development history represents the rise and fall of traditional media.With the development of the times and the continuous reform of the media,the People's Daily has gradually changed from the informer mouthpiece,which propagandizes the Party's theory,line,policy and disseminates information in various fields at home and abroad,of our country and government to focusing on the society and people's livelihood,improving the professionalism of journalism,attaching importance of professional literacy.In the meanwhile,the interpretive community of People's Daily grows up and step by step toward maturity.This dissertation takes People's Daily New Year's Message(1979-2018)as the research object,and uses the theory of news interpretive community as the research perspective.By analyzing the interpretation of public events and focus moments in New Year's speech,this paper explores how traditional media to construct a news discourse system to maintain the right to speak of the professional authority of journalism in the face of the current background of the era of transformation and media integration,as well as the phenomenon of the community of news interpretation presented behind it.First of all,combing related concepts such as “interpretive community” in order to provide analytical perspectives and theoretical basis.The “interpretive community” is a further development based on the theory of community and interpretation of community.It is a nonphysical community based on common journalism professionalism,concepts and norms of behavior.“Interpretive community” further consolidates professional authority and legitimacy by explaining some public events and focus moments,guiding public opinion,displaying news ideas,standardizing professional norms,mending news paradigm and strengthening identity.Secondly,this dissertation summarizes the characteristics of the New Year's message stage of People's Daily and analyzes the presentation of the interpretative community in different stages.The study found that the People's Daily New Year's message has experienced a change from paying attention to propaganda of national political and economic construction initially,to paying attention to the people's livelihood,and then to focusing on journalism professionalism..Correspondingly,in different historical stages and social backgrounds,the People's Daily interpretive community has differently constructed itself: from the national community to the civil community and then to the professional community.Thirdly,this paper makes an in-depth analysis of how People's Daily constructs its interpretive community in the discourse practice of New Year's message.The People's Daily interpretive community constructs itself by choosing vocabulary,sentence patterns and theme positioning in discourse construction,so as to adapt to the impact of new media and maintain its own authority.The selection of high-frequency vocabulary and press professional vocabulary in social hotspots reflects the professionalism and authority of quality news media;the repeated use of arranging sentences and question-making sentences reflects the style and values of the news discourse of People's Daily;The narrative perspective of the readers reflects the social responsibility and professionalism that journalists should have.Finally,this dissertation points out the problems faced by the People's Daily interpretive community and makes reasonable suggestions.The development of new media has blurred the boundaries of traditional news,and the authority of professional journalists has been broken,and the professional identity of traditional news communities has been questioned.In this regard,the People' Daily should adhere to the ideal of journalism,reshape professional confidence,embrace new media,adhere to the mainstream guidance,improve the way of expression,and blend discourse resources.Gradually improve the construction of news interpretation community,and promote the self-transformation of traditional media.
