The late Qing Dynasty and early Republic of China was at the dawn of the rise of Chinese nationalism in modern times.China's nationalist movement has swirled.The movement of Japanese goods in modern China intensified at that time as well.At the same time,the owner of "ShunPao" has changed several times,in line with the principle of independent newspaper,in the specific newspaper activities winding practice,and actively advocate the national boycott of Japanese goods,"doing the best in the field of protecting the country and defending the people".In the process of the construction of modern Chinese nationalism,the medium,as a kind of social existence,reflects and participates in it.This article takes "ShunPao" as the research object,uses the text analysis method,carries on the investigation to the boycott daily Movement related report published in the "ShunPao" in 1908 to 1919,examines the social picture of resisting the Japanese goods movement four times from the historical longitudinal,and analyzes the "ShunPao" from three levels of behavior norm,perceptual level and spiritual restraint.A report on the campaign to boycott Japanese goods.In the code of conduct,this paper focuses on the advertising language related to the boycott of Japanese goods movement in the "ShunPao",as well as the specific boycott of Japanese goods practice in the "ShunPao";On the perceptual level,this paper analyzes the description of the national identity of China and Japan and the brewing of Chinese national emotion in the "ShunPao" boycott of Japanese goods report;Patriotic narratives and the "treason" lessons associated with the boycott of the Japanese goods movement.In addition,this paper also uses the comparative analysis method,the "ShunPao" and "The Big Gazette" related reports to carry on the parallel comparative analysis.It is found that in the narration of "ShunPao",the national attribute of commodity and consumption behavior is self-evident: "Chinese people use domestic goods",the Chinese people should consciously join in the active boycott of Japanese goods movement."ShunPao" also through the "China and Japan different" national identity of the distinction,the Chinese people's sense of shame and the Sino-Japanese "equal" relationship between the struggle to play to the extreme.In addition,the "ShunPao" also highly presents the relevant discourse of "patriotism" and "treason",shrouding readers in the "glory" of the potential to become a national hero and the "horror" of the national scum,traitor and Mole,in the name of patriotism,to mobilize and restrain the people's nationalist practice and thinking."ShunPao" is rooted in "society",according to its own internal operating logic,with its unique narrative way,not only from the consumption behavior,national identity,patriotism three aspects of the rich imagination of modern Chinese people,promote the embodiment of nationalism in the public consciousness,It also has a political and cultural guiding effect on nationalism to a certain extent.As a tool of information dissemination and a mirror image of society,the media in the process of the construction of modern Chinese nationalism,like the catalyst in general,accelerated the process of the sinicization of modern China.
