Study On Network Boycott Phenomenon

Network boycott is a new phenomenon of group communication that emerged after the rise of the Internet.Since its appearance,it has been closely linked with real social events.It has also been highlighted as the general public's use of the Internet to express their collective dissatisfaction and protest against an incident.Fundamentally speaking,the network boycott phenomenon(events or behaviors)is a mapping of social reality contradictions in the online world,and to a certain extent,reflects the "Internet public opinion",highlighting the Internet has the environmental supervision,public participation,non-governmental supervision even the social catharsis and other complicated tool functions.At the same time,the network boycott phenomenon has also brought about a complex impact that cannot be ignored.This paper starts with the network boycott phenomenon and its related concepts,comprehensively examines relevant research results,and defines the connotation of network boycott.Second,this paper analyzes the emergence of network boycotting behavior from four aspects:intrinsic reasons,technical reasons,social reasons and communication environment.Third,this paper reviews the history and development status of the network boycott phenomenon,distinguishes the types of different boycott events and elaborates their characteristics;finally,the paper proposes to not only see the positive meaning of the network boycott,but also must not ignore the problem of group polarization and other negative effects in the network boycott.For this reason,this article discusses how to reasonably regulate and manage the network boycott behavior and make a prediction on its future development.With the continuous progress of society,the growth of citizens' quality and communicative spirit,and the continuous improvement of the cyberspace governance system,network boycott behavior may gradually become more rational.
