A Study On The Report Of Patriotic Health Campaign In People's Daily In The Early Days Of New China

At the beginning of the founding of the People's Republic of China,under the dual pressure of the US imperialist bacteriological warfare and serious domestic health problems,China officially began the Patriotic Health Campaign in 1952.During this period,the patriotic health movement received widespread attention from all walks of life,and the attention of major newspapers has increased with the development of the movement.As a movement that requires the participation of the whole society,newspapers play a very important role in it.As a small source of information at that time,the newspaper provided great support for the propaganda power of the Patriotic Health Movement.This paper takes the report on Patriotic Health Campaign in People's Daily(1952-1959)as an entry point,trying to explore a core question: How does People's Daily construct Patriotic Health campaign? The central-level media represented by People's Daily undoubtedly completed the most traditional and important process of tuning.What it reported was a comprehensive reflection of the social and patriotic health movement at that time.This paper uses text analysis and historical analysis methods,combined with social background and ch anges of the times,to try to outline the evolution of the media reports of the Patriotic Health Movement from 1952 to 1959,and to determine the overall outline of the patriotic health movement.From 1952 to 1959,after defining the general situation of the patriotic health movement,the social mobilization theory was used to further analyze the important role of the media in China's health concept and social mobilization.At the same time,it puts forward some operational communication suggestions for fut ure mass media health communication.This study divides the reports of Patriotic Health Movement in People's Daily from 1952 to 1959 into three stages: 1952-1953 as the origin stage,1954-1957 as the transitional stage,and 1958-1959 as the Prosperous stage.This paper believes that the People's Daily takes resistance to "bacterial warfare" as its reporting center in the initial stage of the patriotic health campaign,and aims to defeat the aggression of American imperialism.With the crushing of "bacterial warfare",the Patriotic Health Campaign report of People's Daily has entered a transitional stage,which is mainly manifested by the gradual monotony of the coverage content,the decentralization of the reporting center and the coverage.Since 1958,the Patriotic Health Movement has ushered in a stage of development,with a focus on "eliminating the four evils." The "People's Daily" report on the Patriotic Health Campaign mainly uses the formulation of the agenda and popularization methods to mobilize the masses and promote the propaganda campaign.Through analysis,it is found that the Patriotic Health Campaign report in People's Daily has produced certain social effects,mainly reflected in social mobilization and conceptual construction.Firstly,the rep ort has two main roles in the construction of the concept of health: first,it reconstructs the concept of public health;second,it liberates the feudal ideology of the public.In the process of social mobilization,there are two major effects: first,it reshapes the social atmosphere;second,it stimulates the patriotic mood of the people and promotes the emergence of patriotic behavior.On this basis,this paper summarizes the relevant strategies and recommendations for effective health communication in the mass media today,hoping to contribute to the development of health communication today.
