Under the increasingly severe employment situation,the study of social capital and employment issues has been the focus of scholars at home and abroad.Chinese society is a "relationship society" and a "human society".In the increasingly competitive job search process,individuals will seek as much compensation as possible for the factors that can be directly controlled."Relationship" as an effective social resource will be recognized and utilized by people.According to Lin's interpretation of social capital,social capital is a resource embedded in individual social network.An important way to obtain personal social capital is to actively and effectively participate in social network interaction,continuously expand the breadth of its social network,and tap the resources available.However,strong and weak relationships are important elements in building a network of individual social relationships.The homogenous interaction and heterogeneous interaction caused by the communication of strong and weak relations is an important way to mobilize social capital.This paper takes in-depth interviews and virtual ethnography as the research methods to examine the different roles played by strong and weak relationship communication in each stage of individual social capital investment,social capital mobilization and social capital return,based on the social capital theory of Lin.The study shows that in the process of social capital investment,the strong and weak relationship constructs the communication circle of individual relationship and determines the communication position of individual in the relationship network.Strong relationship constructs the central position of relationship communication and determines the main scope of individual communication.Weak relationship constructs the node location of relationship propagation,has become a bridge connecting heterogeneous resources,and creates more possibilities for resource acquisition.In addition,the capital display based on "impression management" and the potential capital expansion based on "group relationship" are two main behaviors for individuals to invest in social capital in the new media environment.Meanwhile,during the job hunting period,the main motivation of college students is to obtain additional valuable resources,and more of them are information resources.In the process of the mobilization of the social capital,the homogeneous interaction causedby the strong relationship shows the characteristics of standardization,universality and controllability.The homogeneous interaction triggered by weak relationship shows the characteristics of identity,freedom and openness.Heterogeneous interaction caused by weak relationship shows the characteristics of non-standard,accidental and random.The interaction of the strong and weak relationship promotes the frequency of interaction among members of social network and produces the increment of social capital.In the process of the reciprocation of the social capital,strong relationship interaction based on certain emotional connection has achieved certain emotional and instrumental returns.Weak relationship interaction based on the purpose of sharing certain resources brings abundant instrumental returns.During this period,the transformation between strength and weakness is also a reflection of the return of social capital.The study aims that by exploring whether the communication of strong and weak relationship will bring about an increase in individual social capital,to make the individual have a rational understanding,so as to make better use of their"relationship" resources.
