The popularity of mobile Internet and smartphone accelerates the rapid development of mobile social application, with the prompt expansion of users’base and large scope of influence. Such a situation attracts number attentions from the academic circles as well as stimulates the interest of the author. The author considers that the strong or weak state of interpersonal relationship among users in mobile social application is the most important factor which determines its service condition. Mobile social application based on strong ties has differences with mobile social application based on weak ties in media forms, behavior characteristics of users and using motivation. The purpose of the study is to discuss the users’service condition of mobile social application based on weak ties.Momo is one of the products with the fastest development speed and largest user scale in mobile social application based on weak ties so that the study takes Momo as the object of study. It takes a questionnaire survey on Momo’s users in the manner of online to offline and collects valid questionnaires for192pieces and concludes the usage characteristics of Momo’s users based on the results of questionnaire survey and depth interview with some users:1. the usage target is definite with strong purposefulness;2. The credibility on Momo is general and the evaluation on the usability of information is poor;3. The degree of interaction is polarized and most of users have low degree of interaction;4. Content with online activity but cautious with the offline activity;5. The evaluation on the entertainment of Momo is high;6. The satisfaction with Momo is general but with strong intention of usage. It also analyzes the motivation of users for using Momo:1. Make new friends;2. Curiosity and peep;3. Obtain specific information;4. Obtain social support.Based on the service condition of Momo and research conclusion of user motivation, the author further analyzes the reason for the popularity of mobile social application, establishment of social relationship, conversion between strong and weak ties, its influence on users’ behavior as the media and the influence of users’ behavior of usage on media form.
