Reviewing the centuries-old history of the development of journalism and communication in China,it is not hard to find that the strong interdisciplinary nature is its consistent characteristic. With the rise of the Internet and various new media, the journalism and communication industry is undergoing drastic changes.Correspondingly, the study of network communication has become the most popular one in the academic circle since 2006.In this context, the interdisciplinary nature of journalism and communication should be improved. Is this actually the case? What about the interdisciplinary situation? These are the core problems of this paper.According to relevant principles, this paper regards the interdisciplinary study of journalism and communication as a complete process including knowledge absorption and diffusion, and takes the citation data of 7,965 papers published in 4CSSCI journals of journalism and communication from 2006 to 2017 as materials, and analyzes the interdisciplinary situation based on the measurement index of interdisciplinary study. The findings are as follows :(1)Compared with previous years, the interdisciplinary nature of journalism and communication in the context of network communication has been greatly improved;(2)From 2006 to 2017,the interdisciplinary nature of Journalism and communication is strong, and it has been significantly enhanced since 2008;(3)The interdisciplinary scope of journalism and communication is wide, with a total of 50 disciplines crossing with it.It has intersected most with Political science, economics and sociology among external disciplines.(4)Journalism and communication has absorbed a large amount of knowledge from external disciplines and also spread some knowledge to them, showing the characteristics of more absorption and less diffusion, small interdisciplinary span and splice crossing.
