Changing And Unchanging On The Interdisciplinary Of The Western Communication Under The Rising Of Internet Communication Studies(1996-2018)

In 1995,International Communication Association(ICA)launched the Journal of Computer-Mediated Communication(JCMC),marking that network communication officially became a special and formal research field in the West.What are the new changes in the interdisciplinary level of communication science under the background of flourishing network communication research? This is the main problem studied in this thesis.To answer the question,this thesis adopts bibliometrics method,selects 1395 literatures from 5 representative SSCI journals in communication field,and conducts quantitative analysis on their citations.The results show that,since 1996,the interdisciplinary nature of communication has gradually increased,while the openness of communication has declined;The internal flow of communication knowledge has increased,and the penetration of communication knowledge to other disciplines has declined,to a certain extent,it shows that communication is forming its own discipline boundary.The most knowledge input and output of communication have not changed,psychology,politics and social science are main disciplines,at the same time,communication has the characteristics of more absorption and less diffusion.Comparatively speaking,the knowledge richness,influence on other disciplines and overall degree of interdisciplinary of communication in China are relatively low,but the interdisciplinary of communication is increasing significantly.Among all the research focuses,the number of micro-effect research is the largest,the interdisciplinary nature of distribution of messages is the strongest,and the interdisciplinary nature of media policy and regulation research is the weakest,Although the number of subjects and main knowledge cited are different,the overall interdisciplinary is strong.
