The phenomenon of "generalization" of archives is taking a great part of archives industry and our daily life.Therefore,this paper takes "generalization" of archives as the research object,to define the connotation of "generalization" of archives based on analyzing existing research,classify it and make a point of treat "generalization" of archives from the two dimensions of vertical and horizontal.Vertical "generalization" of archives discusses the archivization of "documents" from the perspective of document movement,demonstrates and analyses the extension of the concept of archives and its influence supported by the demand of the practice of 'Document Integration' management and the integrity theory of document movement.Horizontal "generalization" of archives makes a research from the perspective of expanding the boundary of archives,this paper studies the "generalization" phenomena of "archives fever" in social life,the emergence of new archives resources,the expansion of archival research field and the prevalence of oral archives.While innovating archives work and improving the consciousness of social archives,it may also lead to the vague concept of archives,the shift of the focus of archival work,and the "de-archival" of archival research based on the transformation from"national archives view" to "social archives view".Facing with the "generalization" of archives,while affirming the positive role of "generalization" of archives,In order to make it develop to the positive side.this paper proves that the degree of "generalization" should be reasonably controlled,and present appropriate countermeasures from four aspects:rational view,theoretical exploration,work reform and legal control.
