As a common form of business with a long historical standing,bookstore has grown from small beginnings into a vast and complex industry.In the present environment,bookstore not only aims at broadening readers' views and increasing their knowledge,but also exploring the connotation of both substance and culture.That is to say,bookstore is in a better position to offer more innovative and human-based proposals on life styles,in order to meet the public's needs which is growing more and more diverse as time evolves.Now the Eslite bookstore is able to integrate fairs and sales in gallery,cultural and creative education,dressing and catering with book selling very well,after it was founded over thirty years.Today's bookstore is more than a store.With perseverance and consistency,the Eslite bookstore hold on to "Humanity,art,creativity,life" as the core corporate values.The Eslite bookstore never stops making great efforts to allow more people to enjoy slow life style and make more and more urbanite accept the theory of"Consume and live with literature and culture".In this paper I treat the Eslite bookstore as a media for the following reasons.First when people walk,experience and consume in the Eslite bookstore,the multiple passing of message and actual activity happen at the same time.Simultaneously the interaction between the architecture and people,the merchandise and consumers,the brand and clients,also the Interaction between persons transfer the Eslite bookstore namely the culture space to the media between the producing of cultural meaning and the change of idea,thus the"media".From an overall perspective,this paper starts with media and ends at life style and development of city.At the beginning,on the basis of analyzing the substantial and cultural space of the Eslitecorp Soochow,this paper will focus on the core point that the Eslite bookstore providing proposals on life style to customers.In the end,the paper summarizes the conclusion that the Eslite bookstore representing composite type of businesses form draws support from the active place of bookstore substantial space and the leading function of cultural space based on the premise of being a media.Then a certain image of culture and consumption comes into being,and finally has a great impact on the consumer's choice of life style and the renewal and development of city.This paper collects empirical materials with the combination of document research,questionnaire survey,participatory observation activity and depth interview.In terms of writing framework,this article is going to discuss the core idea and point from three parts.In the first part(Chapter one),namely the narration of entity space in the Suzhou Eslite bookstore,the entity of Suzhou Eslite bookstore is the major research object.The role that the Suzhou Eslite bookstore plays will be discussed from several macro perspectives.In this part,the discussion includes spatial distribution,humanity,city and culture and so on.In the second part(Chapter two),namely the guidance of cultural function of the Suzhou Eslite bookstore,the intrinsic value of Suzhou Eslite bookstore is analyzed in details.The reason why the Eslite bookstore become the public place and association media lies in two aspects.The first one is that the Eslite bookstore understands cultural consumption of citizen thoroughly.But the more important is that as the Eslite bookstore pays much attention to aesthetic design and respect humanity very well,it is a composite type of place filled with comfortable experience feelings.This part in the first place studies and researches the space concept and brand feature of the Suzhou Eslite bookstore.After that it will analyze the specific methods that applied in the Suzhou Eslite bookstore to guide the readers to interact with each other and consume.Finally after converting angle of view,based on the receivers,this part will discuss the conversion that people as the main body have accomplished in the Eslite bookstore.In the third part(Chapter three,four),the thoughts and conclusion about the Suzhou Eslite bookstore,I sort out and conclude the former two parts.Besides this part will not only reassert the main conclusions,but also further researches the Suzhou Eslite bookstore.This chapter points out that as a media,the Suzhou Eslite bookstore combines the materiality of entity space and spirituality of culture,life style and emotion from both two levels that the domination of sense and discipline and direction of culture.The Suzhou Eslite bookstore grasps the consumer psychology and habits and insists on providing cultural proposals to customers.The expanded Opinion is a divergent thinking from the main research perspectives of this paper.It stresses the advantages and disadvantages of online and physical stores,as information technology develops rapidly now.And then it draws a conclusion that the physical stores will not disappears,instead it could be the breakthrough for city and society development in the future.The slow life forms represented by the Suzhou Eslite bookstore will play an important even transformational role in the coming life.
