| In recent years, the men's lifestyle magazines rise rapidly in mainland, the magazines which have copyright cooperation with the famous men's lifestyle magazines overseas have become the first-team of the men's magazine market. In the consumer society with visual consumption and symbol consumption as its characteristic, the main character visual image of men's lifestyle magazines reflects today's masculinities of fashion male, and embodies some contradictoriness and characteristics of fashion and fashion consumption.Through analysis of the main character visual image of《GQ》, combining fashionable theory, consumption theory and the theory of masculinity, this paper try to describe the masculinities what the men's lifestyle magazines have shown. More than that, this paper wants to research the characteristics of fashion consumption for reference in media image, and also probe into the inherent law of fashion itself.The research results show that:The new masculinity that the men's lifestyle magazines show is obvious westernization hybrid masculinity; as men's lifestyle magazines readers middle class's fashion consumption is largely an imaginary practice, they take media image for the mirror and "dance" and "binge" with upper circles and upper life imaginarily by means of fashion consumption; fashion give readers a kind of meaning to resist the natural aging, not perfect body to get them lost in fashion consumption cycle; fashion sold individuation by mode of large-scale production, the behavior resisting to fashion in different ways finally lost in the behavior imitating fashion. These are the inner laws and paradox of fashion. |
