Narrative Research On Data Investigation Reports

Under the background of the development of journalism Internet,the rise of “citizen news” and “social media” has further narrowed the development space of traditional news organizations,leading to frequent news reversal and the “post-truth” era.At the same time,“Information Overload” makes it increasingly difficult for audiences to focus on topics of public interest.In essence,investigative reporting,the most representative form of media professional coverage,is a good way to solve this media dilemma.Although technology has reduced the living space of traditional media and investigative reports,the use of technology can also provide opportunities for development and give full play to its professionalism.Therefore,data investigative reports came into being.It is based on the characteristics of data and visualization,and continues to inherit the form of “professional rationality”.At the same time,the data is involved in the narrative,and the visual presentation is valued.This paper uses the relevant theories of narratology and linguistics to study the narrative law of data investigation reports.The difference between data investigative reports and traditional investigative reports is that the source of the reports is the processing and analysis of large data by media organizations,and the presentation is visual.As a hypertext form,data investigative reports consist of three basic parts: news elements,data visualization,and hyperlinks.Data visualization and plot visualization are used as presentation means to participate in the narrative of the whole text.At present,data survey reports are good at using text visualization to form text works.In the development of plots,they still tend to use the main rhetorical advancement mode of text information and rheological transformation.Cross-style text creation,making the report present authenticity,objectivity and profoundness.In the research on the visual investigation of data investigative reports,this paper finds that different types of suspense(problems)will lead to different ways of visualizing the opening.The article with the data display as the opening article is more inclined to choose the data visualization method,and the article with the news story as the opening article.It tends touse news image visualization.In addition,in the data survey report,the visual narrative focuses on the opening,and the plot visual narrative is less used.Visual narrative and text form supplementary writing.Visual language does not appear in the narrative between plot divisions.Instead,it participates in narrative in the development of the plot to present textual information and provide text reproduction.When providing professional and complex information,the text will provide background information for visualization.At this time,the text is in a secondary position in the whole work,and the visual expression will display more information to the audience.At the same time,before the visual design,the data survey report producers should have a deep understanding of the narrative content of the text,otherwise it will easily lead to the situation of the image.In addition,we need to be alert to the stereotypes caused by visual narrative and the breeding of “tag-based” news.
