Radar target simulator is based on radar technology and system simulation technology.It is mainly used to simulate radar target information and environmental information.It is widely used in radar receiving subsystem and radar performance test.In the whole development process of radar,engineers need to test and improve its performance through a large number of repeated experiments.The traditional field test method not only consumes a lot of cost,but also is interfered by various external factors.The essence of radar target simulation technology is to simulate the electromagnetic reflection characteristics of the target.The application of this technology shortens the radar development cycle and saves the development cost.Based on the research project of Pulse Doppler Radar(PDR)undertaken by a company during the practice in an off-campus enterprise,this subject participated in the development of a portable radar target simulator based on FPGA.The main work of this paper is as follows:1.The echo model and target simulation method are studied.The realization methods of echo information simulation such as delay,Doppler frequency shift and amplitude are analyzed.The related technologies of signal processing are briefly introduced.Based on some advanced technologies,such as DRFM technology and CPCI bus standard,the overall scheme of the target simulator system is designed,which mainly includes three parts: microwave link unit,baseband signal processing unit and computer control unit.The function and working principle of each component unit are analyzed.2.The hardware platform based on XC6VLX240 T chip of Xilinx Company is built.The detailed hardware design schemes of power supply module,ADC data acquisition module,DAC output module and storage module are given.Based on ISE14.7 development platform,the software design or algorithm implementation of the sub-unit module of the simulator system is carried out.Based on the system-level modeling tool of System Generator,the keymodules of digital signal processing such as orthogonal mixing,filtering and frequency measurement are constructed,and the timing simulation verification is carried out with simulation tools such as Modelsim.3.With debugging tools and ChipScope Pro,the communication serial ports of the system are debugged.The test environment is built by standard instruments such as signal generator,spectrum analyzer,detector and oscilloscope.The performance of the system is verified by pulse signal and continuous wave signal respectively.At last,the product is checked and accepted by radar.
