In recent years,the "hit of cultivation" has prevailing in China:such as the cultivation idol--TFBOYS,who have performed many times on the Spring Festival Gala and gained many "mother fans" and "older sister fans";the cultivation game--?Love and Producer?and?Travelling Frog?,which are really popular in the domestic online market;and the cultivation reality shows--?Idol Producer?,which showed up in the Chinese entertainment market as a new mode,and?Produce 101?,which made this mode even more popular.Nowadays,the concept of cultivation already went beyond the entertainment industry and turned into a lifestyle and leisure choice among the young generation.In the process of "cultivation" concept gradually popularized in China,the most interesting genre must be the cultivation reality shows because of the dramatic conflicts and topicality.When a group of glamorous girls and handsome boys are showing their charm on the stage,as well as practicing thousands of time and crying off the stage,this interlacing and unreal feeling between reality and performance makes the show full of wonderful tensionSo,in the context of this kind of reality show,how the roles of female are built and showed to audiences?In order to study this proposition,this paper takes media and gender theory as the observation angle,takes the cultivation reality show as research object,exploring the method of constructing female gender roles in the reality show,meanwhile,discussing its social influence.The first chapter of this paper briefly introduces the research background,research objectives,research difficulties,key innovation points and research methods,and uses these as the research fulcrum of the whole article.The second chapter makes the academic development of feminism clear,classifies feminist schools according to the reason analysis and solutions against women's oppression provided by scholars,and discusses the relevant academic researches on media and gender at home and abroad.The third chapter introduces the concept of "cultivation" and the genre of the reality show,and traces back to the evolution of the reality show of Japan and South Korea,then analyzes the development process of similar programs in China.Besides,the characteristics of idol groups and the fan economy are analyzed,laying the foundation for case analysis of the fourth chapter.The fourth chapter takes the 2018 domestic large-scale reality show "Produce 101" as example,from four dimensions such as visual image,text meaning construction,background power mechanism and representative performers,exploring the subtle and powerful process of constructing female role,and discusses the phenomenon named "Girl Crush".On the basis of the previous chapters,the fifth chapter continues to explore the social and cultural core of female role,pointing out that the cultivation reality show that has been popular in recent years is not only creating an atmosphere that seems like liberating female performers,which is actually not;this atmosphere also disciplines and accumulates female audiences by continually encouraging behaviors such as "watching" and "Voting".The final chapter concludes that female role is not properly constructed in cultivation reality shows,in general,still according to the traditional gender role model.The point is,this phenomenon not only affects women's social development,but also restricts men's.This problem should be given enough attention and it's time to take it seriously and improved it through the efforts of all sectors of society.
