Workflow technology originated from the field of office automation.Early enterprise management recorded various business processes in written text and delivered them manually.It was not only time-consuming and laborious,but also inefficient,and there is a big hidden danger in the storage of documents.Therefore,people do not want to rely too much on paper,but need an automated office management platform realized by computer.In this context,workflow technology has emerged.Through decades of continuous development,workflow application scenario has gradually shifted from the initial paperless office to the complex business process of the enterprise.Through the modeling and in-depth analysis of business processes,we can find out the inapplicable links in the process,and then carry out appropriate optimization or reorganization to help the company to continuously improve the process system.With the development of resource virtualization platforms such as network technology and e-Science,workflow technology is no longer only used in office automation management,but also plays an important role in the field of scientific computing,cooperating with scientists in different fields to complete complex data processing and other work.The workflow model is the core of the workflow management system.The quality of the model will directly affect the execution ability of the system.Therefore,the workflow modeling technology has been extensively studied,and various modeling methods have emerged,such as UML activity diagram-based modeling methods,Petri net-based modeling methods,and BPMN workflow languages.The traditional workflow model is oriented to the enterprise's process processing.The modeling of the workflow mostly uses the control flow as the only guide to promote the execution of the process.The amount of data transmitted in the model is small,and the modeling process of the data flow is lacking.Scientific computing is based on the calculation and processing of large-scale data volume.The problems solved are not only large in scale,but also complicated in calculation process,often involving many different scientific research directions.Therefore,in the process of modeling scientific workflow,the data flow should be used as the process orientation,and the diverse elements of different task nodes should be fully expressed by the simplest model elements,while the traditional modeling method no longer satisfies the model characteristics under the background of scientific research.Based on the in-depth study and research of workflow technology,this paper proposes a scientific workflow model based on spatio-temporal topology,designs the basic elements of model composition,and establishes connections from activities at both time and space.At the same time,the relationship between control flow and data flow between activities is embodied to realize a more complete,comprehensive and three-dimensional expression of the scientific workflow.For the model proposed in this paper,the xml-based process definition language STTD(Spatio-temporal Topology Module Description)is designed and implemented in detail,and the xml schema representation corresponding to each element is given.Finally,combining with the actual requirements of "Shenwei · Taihu Light" project,the visualization of scientific workflow is completed,and an application example is given.
