Caixin Weekly(formerly known as New Century Weekly)was founded in 1988.Since it was taken over by Shuli Hu in 2010,it has achieved a full range of changes from magazine positioning,magazine style to magazine content.Caixin Weekly magazine has become one of the most professional and well-known magazines in the financial industry.It has won good reputation both at home and abroad.The large number of investigative reports in its cover reports have attracted wide attention in the society.The reason why Caixin Weekly can achieve such a high social evaluation in the new media era is closely related to its original high quality content.Therefore,it is of practical significance to conduct research on the cover report of Caixin Weekly.However,as far as the current status is concerned,the academic research on Caixin Weekly has always been less,especially since there is only one research on its cover story,so this article hopes to analyze the characteristics of the cover story of Caixin Weekly and the reasons for its success through in-depth analysis,in order to provide some reference for the cover story of other magazines.The article mainly uses literature research method,data statistics method and text analysis method to conduct text statistics and analysis on 454 cover stories of Caixin Weekly magazine from 2010 to 2018.In order to achieve comprehensive coverage of the data by studying all the cover stories after the re-creation of Caixin Weekly,maximize the true and objective results of the research,to clarify the vertical development trajectory of the magazine cover stories.At the same time,combined with the theoretical basis laid down in the literature review in the previous period,thus achieving the goal of the selection of this paper's topic,that is,conducting the research of the text characteristics,the characteristics of the cover report and the modeling model of the cover brand of Caixin Weekly,and trying to find questions and looking forward to its future development direction.Since Caixin Weekly experienced its inception in 1988 and the Shuli-Hu team took over in 2010,the cover story has formed two remarkable features: first,the characteristics of the text,mainly included the characteristics of the topic,narrative characteristics and reporting tendencies;second,the report characteristics of the cover story.The cover story of Caixin Weekly has formed a unique feature in the topic selection planning and publishing mode through the continuous attention to hot events,the professional editing team and reviewing on the situation when publishing the news.In addition,in the brand image forming mode of the cover report,Caixin Weekly has successfully created a good reputation and brand image at home and abroad through the quality advantage and high credibility of the content.The pay wall model also highlights its confidence in its brand influence.In general,Caixin Weekly has been widely praised by the industry,but the pay wall model adopted by it has led to a discussion about "publicity of news" to a certain extent,this model has also been criticized by some audiences.In the future,the cover story of Caixin Weekly may change in terms of subject matter,report orientation and length of the article.While whether the thing which Shuli Hu retired as editor-in-chief of Caixin Media,editor-in-chief of Caixin Weekly,and Shuo Wang took over will affect the editorial policy,report ideas,content and style of the cover report of Caixin Weekly is worthy of follow-up attention.It is also worthwhile for the audience to continue to pay attention to the optimization and improvement of the pay wall model of Caixin Weekly.
