Physic Al Discipline And Survival Aesthetics Strategy:The Use Of Lipstick By Wo Men In The Context Of Consumerism

This study starts from Foucault's disciplinary theory and studies the use of lipstick by women in the context of consumerism.In-depth interviews were conducted with fifteen consumers who were keen on using lipstick by snowball sampling,and case studies were conducted on typical cases.Study the operation mechanism of modern disciplinary social power discourse,explore the strengths of women in the process of using lipstick,and ho w to respond.Through research,I found that Foucault believed that the body as a complex intermediate field was disciplined by multiple forces.The body parts are broken and shattered,people are keen on different body experiences and develop different consumption patterns.Lipstick is socially constructed and is considered to be a symbol of femininity.Nowadays,micro-power has become more and more infiltrated into daily life,and it has produced a more subtle control of the body.Lipstick can be seen as a window for micropower to function.The pursuit of beauty and the admiration of consumption in our society are only the result of micro-power shaping.The global consumer tide has hit,fashion,consumption,and business control the flesh through time,space,and other techniques.The malls are divided into different categories,and different products are displayed in different regions.Consumers are assigned to specific locations,and advertisers continue to create demand and attract audiences.Individuals in modern disciplined society are controlled by various powers from commodities,consumerism,media,etc.,as exposed to the panoramic open-sighted prison,and finally shaped into a well-trained body.Women pay attention to the aesthetics of daily life,pay attention to physical experience and body feelings,create their own specific style by applying lipstick,express their own words,and then resist the power discipline,through the aesthetics of survival,the body is shaped into an aestheticized body,and even becomes a kind of art that makes life a process of aesthetic enjoyment that constantly surpasses creation and is full of pleasure.Although Foucault proposed in the later years that women can achieve self-reform and self-liberation through the use of aesthetic survival strategies through physical and sexual resistance,this self-liberation is essentially a cultural self-venting.Under the constant and secretive control of capital,market,media and other powers,the survival aesthetics and resistance path of female groups are insignificant and incapable.The production and deconstruct:ion of power discourse by female groups is like "skinning itching".We must Recognizing the essence of modern discipline society-"Big Brother"is watching you.
