Research On The Reporting Framework Of The Economist Technology News

This article mainly regards the Science And Technology column of a global English language journal named The Economist as the research object,and teases out its different report patterns for science and technology news from 1999 to 2018,so as to view the tendency of the journal towards this kind of news,summarize its stable factors and advanced experience in science and technology news writing as a centurial journal,and explore its referencing significance in the science and technology news writing for the comprehensive journals and media for China.This paper is divided into five chapters.In the first and second chapters,the definition,types and categories of science and technology news report of The Economist are discussed based on its 20-year news reporting data.The third chapter mainly adopts the method of sample survey and content analysis and further subdivides the selected part of the sample into different framework categories according to the content.The fourth chapter focus on the frame analysis of the research content from the perspectives of science,engineering,agriculture,medicine,humanity and social science.Finally it finds that different report patterns have different effects on the readers and different content preference.The fifth chapter,as the conclusion part,gives a response to the research hypothesis,analyzes the causes of the characteristics in different science and technology news writing patterns in The Economist,points out the problems of the current situation and gives some suggestions on science and technology report writing in China.
