Design And Improvement Of Storage Area Network Automatic Management System

With the development of storage technology,iSCSI SAN(Internet SCSI Storage Area Network)has become the mainstream storage framework system.In order to cope with the explosive growth of stored information,iSCSI storage area network storage devices will increase unceasingly.Therefore,it is essential to automate the storage area network management.For the management of the storage area network,the traditional method requires a large number of manual configuration by the system administrator,which is very unfavorable to the expansion and management of the storage area network.After analyzing the specific requirements of the automated management of iSCSI storage area network,this paper focuses on the iSNS(Internet Storage Name Service)protocol.It will also design and implement an automated management system of storage area network based on the protocol.The system realizes the status notification service,automatic discovery and automatic access control of the device in the storage area network by monitoring the status of the device,collecting the device registration information and discovering the domain management.In order to improve the reliability of the whole management system,this paper presents an active/standby scheme.This scheme enables all the switches in the storage area network to have the device information,management information and configuration information of the whole network through the active/standby election,data synchronization and active/standby switchover among all the switches in the storage area network,thus improve the reliability and stability of the management system.This paper introduces the design and improvement of the automatic management system of storage area network in detail.It will achieve the methods by software programming and verify them on the switch,which uses the platform of a company called Comware.After the rigorous testing,the results show that the design and improvement of the management system in this paper not only achieve the storage area network automatic management,but also improve the reliability and stability of the system.
