Autostereoscopic display technology can help audience to get rid of the shackles of visual aid equipment in conventional stereoscopic display.It has become one technological hot point in the field of display.In further parallax barrier autostereoscopic display system with LED shows high brightness,splicing,long lifetime,etc.The advantages guarantee parallax barrier LED autostereoscopic display technology as one important direction of stereoscopic display field.Parallax barrier LED autostereoscopic display system composes of LED screen and parallax barrier at hardware aspect.The parallax barrier functions the separation of images with different view point.Its design should meet the requirements of crosstalk reduction between images of different viewpoints and Moire fringe minimization at the same time.According to the unequal spacing distribution of LED sub-pixels,we carried out some parallax barrier design as follows.(1)The space between two sub-pixels Wp was counted as 1/3P,where p is the space between pixels.Base on this calculation method of Wp,we set up one parallax barrier LED autostereoscopic display system,which shows excellent stereo display ability.We tested the validness of this Wp calculation method,and confirmed that it works in the display system of more view points(bigger than 3).We also found that stereo display ability of the system is vulnerable to the mismatch between slant angle of parallax barrier in produce composite image and actual slant angle of parallax barrier affixed on the glass plate.A method of actual slant angle of parallax barrier was presented in this thesis.(2)For LED screen with sub-pixel distributed in horizontal direction,it?s image displays different color when viewing angel changes.Whereas this problem would nou occur to the LED screen with sub-pixel distributed in vertical direction.Thus possibility of new type LED autostereoscopic display system with sub-pixel vertical distribution was discussed.Through comparing the performance of LED autostereoscopic display system with sub-pixels horizontal and vertical distribution,respectively,we found that Moire fringe?s affection in two types display system are nearly the same,but system with with sub-pixels vertical distribution is better in crosstalk reduction aspect.(3)In practical application parallax barrier is usually made from film printing.In this thesis we discussed the influence of transmission of light barrier part of this type parallax barrier on the crosstalk between images from different viewpoint.To improve the environmental resistance we also prepared glass parallax barrier using coloured-glaze method,and confirm this method is feasible for parallax barrier LED autostereoscopic display system.(4)In order to make a further reduction of crosstalk between images from different viewpoint,we design a slanted step staggered parallax barrier structure for LED autostereoscopic display system.Simulation results shows slanted step parallax barrier can effectively separate images from different viewpoints,and fits to the setup of parallax barrier LED autostereoscopic display system.Experimental results also verified that slanted step parallax barrier can balance the Moire fringe minimization and suppressing the crosstalk of images from different viewpoints.With respect to Moire fringe,slanted step parallax barrier is better than step parallax barrier.With respect to crosstalk suppression,slanted step parallax barrier is better than step parallax barrier.(5)To overcome the limitation of sub-pixel spaceWp calculation method(Wp=1/3P,where p is the space between pixels),we present a parallax barrier design method basing on virtual sub-pixel.In this method the sub-pixel spaceWp is calculated as the actual size from LED chip.Following this calculation way a pixel would include sub-pixel more than 3.Actual sub-pixels are called real sub-pixel,and the others are called virtual sub-pixel.Both simulation and experiment confirm that the performance of parallax barrier based on virtual sub-pixel fit is not influenced by view point number of system.Furthermore this new type parallax barrier can effectively shorten the distance between LED screen and parallax barrier,which is good for practical application.
