The Current Dilemma And Transformation Strategy Of In-depth Reports On Paper Media

This article mainly uses "China Youth Daily" as an example to study the in-depth coverage of paper media.This study has collated the development track of the in-depth coverage of the "China Youth Daily",summarized its characteristics and advantages,and analyzed its difficulties and challenges.Combined with the opportunities of the times,the author proposes reasonable suggestions for the transformation of in-depth reports.In the 1980 s,with the background of China's reform and opening up,in-depth reports began to rise.The in-depth reports of this period have a strong enlightenment.The "China Youth Daily" was seen as the birthplace of in-depth reports in China and launched a series of classic works.In the 1990 s,radio and television entered the daily life,and in-depth reports demonstrated a cross-media prosperity.The "China Youth Daily" continues to innovate,such as improving in-depth reporting methods of operation,presentation methods,and setting up special features such as "Freezing Point".At the beginning of the 21 st century,in-depth reports spread all over the place.The "China Youth Daily" launched a "special report" version,which focused on investigative reporting and achieved brilliant achievements.With the development of mobile Internet and technology,the media ecology has been reshaped.The media structure dominated by traditional media has been broken,and the paper media is falling.In-depth reporting is a kind of high-risk,high-cost,and low-return report.It has been taken as a “burden” by many paper media and it is deeply in trouble.The same is true of the in-depth coverage of the China Youth Daily.It faces both political and market attacks.Politics has become more and more restrictive on news,and the space for reporting has shrunk dramatically.Commercial giants seized media territory through investment,acquisitions and other forms to increase control over news media.In addition,internal issues such as the decline in advertising revenue,the homogeneity of topics,the backwardness of media technology,and the loss of talent have also limited the development of in-depth reports in China Youth Daily.Transformation is imminent.The China Youth Daily took a detour in the process of exploration and dissolved the special report department with a history of 10 years.A year later,it realized the importance of the in-depth reporting department and rebuilt the in-depth investigation department.In addition,it has conducted in-depth cooperation with commercial organizations.The author believes that the in-depth reports of the “China Youth Daily” should pay attention to the following points in the future development: broaden the scope of topic selection,pay attention to the topics of youth;strengthen content construction,increase external cooperation;enhance media technologies,enrich the forms of expression;optimize the production process,increase production efficiency;attach importance to personnel training,improve the pay system.In order to make this study closer to reality,the author interviewed 30 in-depth reporters and editors,as well as media executives.The author tried to present the overall status of the in-depth report on paper media,summarize the current difficulties and opportunities for in-depth reporting,and explore the future trends of in-depth reports.
