Newspaper Reading And Spiritual World Reflected By "Letters From Readers":Study On The Observers Readers

From the perspective of the history of newspaper reading,this article focuses on the column “The Observers Investigation Reports” and "Letters from Readers " as the main materials,taking others such as the letters and diaries among the writers,Chu Anping and reader's as supporting material to research on “The Observers”.In an era of turbulent social changes in China,the readers were plagued by poverty and turmoil in their lives,and were anxious about their spirits.“The Observers” came into the readers living world by effective publishing strategies,and forged the relationships with readers by rational comments in China in the late 1940 s.Readers were concerned about current affairs,got to know the border society,and had generated a political resonance that aspired for peace,denounced corruption,and had the courage to act.They expressed their opinions on the complicated domestic situation and sent them to protest against the dark and chaotic Kuomintang rule by appealing for freedom of education,advocating cultural change in politics.They communicated with each other in the “public sphere”,and raised a loud voice for the people who embraced the hope of New China and became powerful public opinion.In this process,the reader's spiritual world has enormous and complex changes.The intellectual collision and value orientation of young intellectuals from all walks of life in various parts of the country have presented many different aspects as the current situation changes.From this perspective,the readers have experienced spiritual changes by reading “The Observers”,behind the changes in the spiritual world,there is a clear cognitive process of liberal ideas.
