As the bullet screen emerged in diverse fields such as video websites, movies, and advertisements, the bullet screen broke its original restrictions by the ACG cultural circle, and began to gradually enter the public view.It has been recognized and sought after by more and more users for its innovation of past video commentary. However, the lack of awareness of the bullet screen results in the public still equating bullet screen users with ACG fans.At present, the research on bullet screen users is generally based on the theory of use and satisfaction. It cannot reflect the characteristics of equal interaction between users in the new media environment. This article takes the Spectacle/Performance paradigm as a theoretical framework.Through online participatory observation, text analysis and unstructured interviewing methods,we explored the group characteristics of users using bullet screen in our country. As well as their motivation to participate in the production and consumption of bullet screen, and the process of imagination, performance and approval in the bullet screen video website.Through research,it has been found that users of bullet screen in our country are mainly composed of youth. They form an imaginary viewing community in the bullet screen video website by playing as the upload user or general bullet screen user. They actively perform themselves and at the same time, they spectacle the bullet screen, construct self-identity in the cycle of the spectacle and narcissism, and continue to reconstruct.Based on this, the bullet screen has helped its users achieve their needs of free expression and sociality, brought them a brand new entertainment experience and reorganized their language habits. At the same time,The potential risk of bullet screen may cause some harm to the physical and mental health of youth and their daily lives.
