The uncut book is a kind of book with no cutting,and its edges are uneven.This special form of book binding originated from Germany,France,Britain and other European countries.It was introduced into China at the beginning of the 20 th century.After more than a hundred years of development,the characteristics of Chinese uncut book have been formed.Through the use of literature research methods,case analysis methods,qualitative research methods and countermeasure analysis methods,this artice discusses the characteristics of Chinese uncut books from different perspectives of development,audience,content,design,and marketing.At the same time,it proposes feasible methods and path for the future development of uncut books in China.This article consists of six parts.The first chapter mainly introduces the origin of the uncut books and its development in China.In terms of development characteristics,the publication of Chinese uncut books changed with the social and economic conditions in different historical periods.In the 1920 s and 1930 s,it was the heyday of the development of Chinese uncut books.The second chapter mainly discusses the audience and their psychology of Chinese uncut books,the audience of Chinese uncut books is a small minority.The third chapter introduces the content features of Chinese uncut books.The publisher has played a huge role in the production process of the uncut books.It not only selects the literary content as the main body of the contents,but also adds the cultural heritage of the uncut books.The fourth chapter introduces the design features of the uncut books with the representative books for more than one hundred years in China.It focuses on the design of Chinese uncut books on the book mouth and the design of cover,script,and paper.In addition,the design of the book sniper and manual elements adds value to the uncut books.The fifth chapter introduces the marketing characteristics of Chinese uncut books,the number of Chinese uncut books is limited,the marketing channels are mainly provided by authors,private specialty bookstores and online retail platforms of paper product,and self-media marketing.The sixth chapter is based on the characteristics of Chinese uncut books.It points out the prospects for the development of Chinese uncut books,that is,using on-demand publishing and social publishing,taking the publishing path of quality publishing,and becoming an art collection.
