With the continuous development of Triple Play,i.e.,the integration of telecommunications networks,cable TV networks and the Internet,the broadcast television network operators are facing increasingly fierce market competition from telecommunication and other Internet network operators.For broadcast and television operators,in order to gain advantage in the market competition and to overcome the pressure being saturated of existing basic digital television services,some breakthroughs in value-added services are expected.However,due to the poor performance of slow-upgraded user terminal equipments,the large amount of data computation required by value-added services is unable to support so that the bottleneck to developing value-added broadcast and television services is met.Meanwhile,with the rapid development and maturity of cloud computing technology in recent years,Internet operators have achieved leaps in business by relying on the computing power of cloud computing platform instead of terminal devices.Besides traditional video broadcasting,high quality value-added services such as webcasting,TV shopping,online education and large-scale 3D games are now provided by Internet operators.It makes that extensive past users of broadcast television network change to choose Internet TV provider.Therefore,it is a very important research topic for broadcast and television industry to built their own cloud computing platform for value-added services combining with cloud computing technology.This thesis mainly studies and designs the video cloud computing platform for value-added services of the broadcast and television operator.Firstly,the current development of technology and business in the field of Triple Play of Internet operators at home and abroad is studied.The advantages of building value-added services cloud computing platform for broadcast and television industry are analyzed.Considering the two-way network transformation of broadcasting and television operators and situation of limited computing capacity of set-top boxes,the framework to construct the video cloud computing platform for value-added services of the broadcast and television operator is proposed.In this construction,the cloud computing platform is used for data computation and video coding,the HFC network is used to distribute code streams,the set-top box is used for messages interacting with the cloud platform and receiving and decoding code streams.Secondly,the overall scheme to construct the video cloud computing platform for value-added services of the broadcast and television operator is designed.The hardware and software architecture of the platform are proposed,the functions required by the platform software are analyized and main technical specifications needed by the platform are presented.Thirdly,the software modules of video cloud computing platform for value-added services of the broadcast and television operator is decomposed and the service processing procedure of each function module is designed.Furthermore,the service processing delay on the video cloud computing platform for value-added services of the broadcast and television operator is tested,the causes inducing the delay are analyzed and the optimization solutions for factors are proposed.Finally,the software design and implementation of video cloud computing platform for value-added services of the broadcast and television operator in this thesis is summarized,the further direction of improvement and upgradation of the platform is introduced.The video cloud computing platform for value-added services designed and implemented in this thesis has been fully deployed and operating within the coverage area of Jiangsu Broadcasting Information Network Corporation.The system performance is robust and reliable after long-term online operating.It is an effective infrastructure for promotion of value-added services of Jiangsu Broadcasting Information Network Corporation.
