Resarch On The European Museum Of The YearAward(EMYA) System

Along with the rapid development of museum practice,awarding museums has become a remarkable phenomenon.The system of museum awards is not only making a certain degree of regulation and guiding museum activities,but also stimulating innovative creativities in museum aspect.Based on the European Museum of the Year Award(EMYA),this dissertation tries to explore the mechanism of the award system,which may influences museum practice and museuology.EMYA award system has a set of relatively stable values and standards,reflecting the trends of modern European museology that link to the conservation,research,exhibition and education on museums' responsibilities,which makes museums playing an important role on communicating universal values of Europe.EMYA is not only a historical phenomenon,but also a long-term processing system.Therefore,studying annual winners will uncover the museology of the times.Meanwhile,the case study of a non-typical museum-the Museum of Innocence analyses its connotation and break through the museum's definition.As a bridge between theory and practice,EMYA awards system is closely related to museum activities in all aspects.EMYA awards system has its own mechanism on a wider range of museology and socio-cultural study,which may making its context and perspective to the extend.This study has profound significance in both theory and practice.Studying on EMYA awards system contributes to the assessment,rating and other qualitative work of museum,whose limitations also inspiring Chinese museum awards system.Moreover,setting up a flexible and professional Chinese museum awards system help breaking the old pattern as well as triggering the innovationin in museum field,leading Chinese museums onto the world stage.
