Research On News Construction Of "Nanny" From The Perspective Of Framework Theory

Housework is an indispensable part of everyday life in the city,and the nanny,as a person for housework services,is a common group in the city.The nanny faces multiple survival difficulties in the contemporary urban-rural duality structure.However,the public does not really care about the nanny's survival dilemma.The reason of this situation is lacking of the nanny's right to speak,so that they cannot express their own experience and fight for their rights.The question that the paper studies is how the nanny's news report constructs "Nanny" and how this construction relates to our culture.From the perspective of framework theory,this article collects the nanny's news reports from 2015 to 2018 on Tencent News Aggregation Platform for content analysis.This study uses news framework analysis as a research approach and explores what news media use in frame through van Gorp's framework analysis.The framework defines the relationship between "nanny" and the contemporary society,analyzes the elements of these frameworks,deep into the hidden values of these elements,and explores how the ideology behind these values leads the media to select these elements to complete the construction of the framework.This article attempts to discover the specific path of the media construction of the nanny,explore the structural mechanism of media knowledge production,explore the relationship between media and the construction of media meaning power,and understand the plight of nannies in Chinese society from the perspective of news construction.This article finds that the narratives of the nannies in the media are all in a "others"situation.Under the guidance of Developmentism and traditional moral and ethical ideology,nannies have been identified in the media discourse as groups lacking professionalism and individual moral qualities.In summary,the news media should give nannies more initiative to speak to fight for their rights and expand more channels and possibilities for their self-expression,in that cast the nanny not just being"represented" and "Constructed" by others.
