A Study On Wechat Rumors And Their Governance

WeChat,as an instant messaging app,has had a profound and extensive impact WeChat,as an instant messaging app,has had a profound and extensive impact on all aspects of social life since being released by Tencent in 2011.According to “WeChat Data Report 2017”,WeChat's daily active users have reached a peak of 902 million,and the amount of daily information sent peaked at 38 billion,Wechat has become an integral part of domestic public social networking.However,every coin has two sides,while Wechat brings about convenience to people's social life,its shortcomings also begin to be exposed.People with an ulterior motive take advantage of the efficient information dissemination of Wechat and creat a lot of rumors,which makes Wechat glutted with rumors and brings bad influence on political,economic,social and other aspects of the society.Therefore,the governance of Wechat has become imperative.This thesis is divided into six parts:The first part is the introduction,it mainly introduces the background and purpose of the research,related research at home and abroad,theoretical methods and innovations of the research according to the official statistics of Tencent and other documents.The second part introduces the definition of Wechat,rumor and other main concepts.It also points out the theoretical basis used in the thesis,including the theory of governance,cyber security,crisis management and so on.The third part introduces the status,types and characteristics of Wechat rumors through the theoretical methods of statistic analysis and literature research.The fourth part analyzes the causes of Wechat rumors in-depth from the aspects of technology,usage and supervision according to the characteristics of the emergence and spread of Wechat rumors,and lays the foundation for well-directed governance next step.The fifith part discusses the purposes,reasons and system of the governance of Wechat rumors based on the theory of governance.According to the causes of Wechat rumors,and the harms it brings from governmental,economic,and social aspects,this part also comes up with suggestions from many aspects,including the responsible party,basis,methods,and supports of the governance of Wechat rumors.The last part points out the urgence of the governance of Wechat.The government,Wechat operator,medias and all netizens should all take responsibility to nip Wechat rumors in the bud,and creat a good network environment together.
