The current academic research on Chinese museums are primarily based on the following perspectives:the historical value of cultural relics, translation and introduction of cultural relics and marketing.strategies of museums.Only few researches take museums as an important part of international communication and a component to promote soft power. Therefore, this dissertation selected three national first-class museums in Beijing as the research objects and proposed two research questions:What's the status quo of infrastructure construction of Chinese museums at the international communication level? How do these infrastructures match the audiences' needs? One of the museum's infrastructure performances at the international communication level is the construction of its foreign language service system. In order to answer the RQ1,the content analysis method was conducted to analyze the content of the three museums'foreign language websites and foreign language brochures. The results show construction of the foreign language service system was basically complete, but there're still some problems, such as the poor quality of foreign language service system, lacking precision settings and reality unmatched with its publicity, etc. To answer RQ2,this dissertation introduced the concept of "noise" and "signal to noise ratio" in information theory. After the signal to noise ratio detection experiment,it was found that these three museums have low "noise ratio" in their foreign language service system. It means, for foreign visitors, the majority of what they provide on their websites and brochures is useless or not as useful as they should. To address this issue, this study compares with the infrastructure constructions of excellent museums abroad at the international communication level, trying to optimize the access to information for foreign visitors and eliminate the noises. From the perspective of international communication of museums, this study theoretically will supplement current international communication research theories and provide a new entry point for Chinese international communication research.Exploring the status quo of the international communication of Chinese museums and possible paths of improvement, this study provides a practical contribution of guiding significance for Chinese museums' international communication practice and promote its development paths to better conduct international communication and promote the soft power in international arena.
