Interrogation Of Journalistic Professionalism Practice In The Environment Of Internet

Internet has evolved from a simple technology tool to a complex and compound environment,where news generation is undergoing revolution affected by many aspects.Journalistic professionalism is the theoretical basis which guides and regulates news production including following aspects:objectivity of journalism;self-discipline and heteronomy of practitioners;perception of 'serving the public';consciousness of free speech and responsibility.Then,the practice of journalistic professionalism refers to the concrete activities journalism practitioners conduct according to journalistic professionalism.This essay utilises depth interview as the main research method,spanning a two-month period with eighteen experienced frontier-line journalists interviewed,who come from newspapers,televisions,online news companies and comprehensive news organizations of nearly eight cities of China.The author makes research on specific situationuses of journalistic professionalism practice under the environment of Internet by depth interview,and all the analyses are based on the interview information and literature.In the process of reconstruction of news production procedure,a lot of new working forms emerge.Editors begin to take puzzling information into articles by their own.Journalists also independently collect materials and edit them.Therefore the ambiguity between the roles of editor and journalist becomes increasingly obvious.All of these require media practitioners to be equipped with self-discipline and the awareness of responsibility for free speech at a higher level.During the process of reshaping the framework of news organizing,there are more channels of obtaining news materials including UGC and PGC.Civil journalists become a part of practitioners.Besides,comprehensive news organizations have developed into an integrated organizational structure which can be described as'two groups of editors using articles of the same one group of journalists'.As more open and efficient,newsrooms will be faced with more complex demands for achieving the goal of objectivity in practice.In the pathways of transformation,traditional media tend to retrieve in-depth reports based on their self-identity and properties.However,new media need to seek for its unique value under the conflict between commercial logic and professionalism ethics,in oder to play a significant role in improving the discourse system of news generation.Internet has established a new platform for news generation.It enables more social groups getting involved in making news,enlarges the territory of public discussion and gives birth to new modules of news production.We have to note,however,in the field of news generation,it cannot contribute to a new socio-culture value system without the demand and guidence of the perception of professionalism.
