Application Of Author Affiliation Index In Journal Ranking And Coauthorship Pattern Studies

Academic journals have been an important source of information,as it is a carrier to spread scientific knowledge and display research results.With the rapid development of science and technology,an increasing number of academic papers published.According to the report of‘Analysis of the press and publication industry in 2016',the number of natural and social sciences academic journals published in China in 2016 has reached 7382.With such huge quantity of academic journals,it is difficult to pick out appropriate journals and academic papers quickly of effective value,so we need to refer to rank system of journals.Author Affiliation Index(AAI for short)is a index used in ranking of journ als,which overcomes the disadvantages of commonly used methods of Journal ranking.This paper used content analysis method to analyzes the application status and specific method applied in calculating AAI.On this basis,AAI will applied to specific subjects to explore its applicability,the subjects we choose in this paper are Information Science and Higher Education Science.In previous study,some scholars pointed out that AAI is ineffective in the field of Information Science but it's considered to be effective in Higher Education Science,however this view has not been confirmed.In addition of this,the two fields have their own merits and different journal resources,AAI calculation methods applied in these two fields are different,this paper selected two disciplines to reach a more comprehensive effect of AAI applied in Chinese journal ranking system.Finally,this paper analyzed the effect of AAI used in these two fields,summarizing the conclusions of this paper,reflecting weakness of this research and prospecting a further research.This paper is divided into seven parts:introduction,mainly explained research background and significance,methods applied and innovation in this research.The second part is a summary of relevant researches,including some evaluation research domestic and overseas,beside of this,three methods commonly used in journal evaluation,the development of AAI and a research of coauthorship pattern.The third part analyzing the existing empirical literature in AAI with content analysis,it covers publication year,application fields,sampling method,calculation formula and method in Top institutions,which pave the way for the following research.The fourth part,AAI applied to the field of Library and Information research,with the method of expanding range in Top institutions,giving different weights to calculate different AAI,then the results were compared and analyzed,finally exploring the relationship between Library and Information research in AAI ranking and coauthorship pattern.The fifth part which applied AAI to evaluation of Higher Education,according to the rank of 2016 Chinese University in Top institutions,several different AAI also.had.been calculated and analyzed.The sixth part analyzed the effects of AAI in two fields,the perspective of the journal ranking and coauthorship pattern.Last part is a summary of this paper arid a prospect of future research.
