Recently, Ultra High Frequency(UHF) Radio Frequency Identification(RFID) system is becoming a hot research in the world, because it has faster recognition speed and farther distance. Tag chip is the most important technology in the domain of RFID system. There are two version respectively in accordance with GB/T 29768-2013 and EPC Class1 Generation2 standard protocol of UHF RFID tag chip digital baseband processor designed, and these digital baseband processor are based on UMC 0.18 ?m EEPROM process.First of all, analysing the EPC Gen2 standard and GB/T 29768 standard UHF RFID protocols, including similarities and differences between the command and the content of codec mode. It's useful for the following design of digital baseband processor.Secondly, respectively expounding two standard protocols digital baseband processor design. Digital baseband processor mainly constitute by the decoding module, clock module, EEPROM control module, the state machine control module, etc. GB/T 29768 standard protocol of the digital baseband compatible with 14 mandatory commands, and EPC Gen2 standard protocol of the digital baseband compatible with 11 commands and 2 custom commands. Two version digital basebands are designed from the RTL coding, simulation, synthesis, validation, to layout. After synthesizing, the area of the digital baseband processor chip of GB/T 29768 standard protocol is 0.152 mm2 and the power consumption is 20.4 ?W at 1.92 MHz. The area of the digital baseband processor chip of EPC Gen2 standard protocol is 0.077 mm2 and the power consumption is 33.1 ?W at 3.84 MHz, using 4953 logic cells. Then, the design of digital baseband processor using optimization techniques, such as reducing the clock frequency, using the gated clock, reusing some adders and registers, etc. Power consumption of the system can be lower, and the size of chip can be reduced. Finally, taping out the EPC Gen2 digital baseband processor chip with the UMC 0.18?m EEPROM process technology, and then completing the EPC Gen2 chip packaging and testing work.Through the test of each command, the digital baseband processor chip can correct response message. So we realize the expected goals.
