RFID(Radio Frequency Identification), one of the most promising technology in the 21 th century, has been widely used in many areas including logistics, intelligent transportation, food safety traceability, warehouse management, health care as well as security etc. With its great deal of significant features such as low cost, lower power, remote identification, high security and reliability, UHF RFID passive tags is becoming more popular. The prospect of market for dometic UHF RFID is huge, but the lack of own intectual property, technique application innovation and core technology is serious, which greatly restricts the development of UHF RFID industry.Therefore, once the Information technology-Radio frequency identification Air interface protocol at 800/900 MHz of our country is determined, the designing of the digital IC cruite for the UHF RFID tag is becoming increasingly critical based on that protocol.Under this background, the paper researches the key technologies of the digital baseband circuitry of UHF RFID tag chip based on GB/T 29768.we first describe the background and current state of RFID technology.Then we introduce the basic principle of RFID technology and architecture of UHF RFID tag chips,and analyze GB standards in detail,including the physical interface layer, link timing, anti-collision mechanism and security identification etc. In order to pursue the target of long-distance identification, this paper analyzes the mechanism of the power consumption in CMOS integrated circuit and energy characteristics of tag chip.On this basis, we design a lower-power architecture of digital baseband circuit of tag, and finish design and functional simulation of each module according to digital baseband circuit requirement of GB/T 29768-2013 protocol.Finally, the system uses Design Compiler to do logic synthesis and has been fabricated successfully after the layout and physic verification in the in TSMC 0.18 um process. The final digital baseband circuit layout area is 1080um*480um. Test rusults show that the design of the tag chip supports all the mandatary commands of GB protocol,and achieves the functions of inventory, read, write and symmetric encryption mutual authentication.In a word,the function and target of the tag chips are in line with the expected design requirements.
