Radar extended target characteristics simulation system is significant for modern high resolution radar system research and design,test,performance evaluation,and radar operator' daily training.This paper aimed at phase-comparison monopulse wide-band linear frequency modulation pulse radar system and extended target echo signal simulation application,by use modern three-dimensional scattering centers reconstruction theory,radar extended target characteristics simulation system design theory and project implementation approach are studied,and then a radar extended target echo simulator with three-channels of sum and difference based on architecture of DSP-FPGA-DAC is developed.By comparative analysis simulation data and raw data in RCS characteristics and range profile characteristics and so on,this simulator not only can simulate target basic characteristics such as distance,angle and velocity accurately,but also can simulate target category characteristics such as RCS,range profile exactly in different situation are Validated preliminarily.A realizable technical scheme and implementation approach for design and finalization of radar extended target characteristics simulation system is proposed.In this paper,the mainly research work includes:(1)Aimed at phase-comparison monopulse wide-band linear frequency modulation pulse radar system and extended target,a intermediate frequency signal simulation method with three-channels of sum and difference based on three-dimensional scattering centers reconstruction model is proposed.And formulations of of sum,azimuth difference,pitch difference channel signal parameters such as amplitude,phase,delay based on model is derived.(2)To facilitate project implemention,aimed at the condition of relative bandwidth situation is small,the computation part of frequency response for all kinds of scattering centers is simplified properly,and the computation complexity of signal simulation calculation is reduced.(3)Implementation scheme of Radar extended target simulator based on DSP,FPGA,DAC is proposed.Parameters computing method of extended target linear frequency modulation echo signal based on DDS is proposed,and specific flow of parameters computing in DSP is given.Aimed at specific application of extended target characteristics simulation,parameter address are defined for EMIF communication between DSP and FPGA,and one-to-one mapping between different address and signal generation parameters,control signal is determined.(4)Phasical realization of extended target simulator is done,phase-comparison monopulse wide-band linear frequency modulation pulse radar with multi-channels extended target simulator principle prototype is developed and designed preliminarily.(5)Fidelity validation scheme of target characteristics simulation based on RCS curve and range profile is proposed,and typical ships target are tested and validated.The correctness of simulation method and implementation scheme proposed by this paper is validated preliminarily.
