The development of problem-solving ability is one of main target of education.In the case of physics education,strengthening and developing physical problem-solving ability of students is the key issue that physics educators are faced with.The main purpose of this work is to explore teaching methods to improve students' physical problem-solving ability.Firstly,based on the research and analysis of literatures,the SOLO Taxonomy Theory is selected to be the evaluation method to replace those traditional.Students from selected junior high school are chosen to be research object and their physical problem-solving ability are analyzed and evaluated.The detail process is as follows.Proper examination paper should be determined at first and then the evaluating standard of physical problem-solving ability is set up in this work according to the SOLO Taxonomy Theory.After the examination,the evaluating standard is used to evaluate the physical problem-solving ability of students.According to the analysis of scores of examinations,it is shown that the physical problem-solving ability of the majority of students is in the level of unistructural while the minority of them in the level of relational.Secondly,the teaching strategies to improve students' problem-solving ability is proposed as well as teaching plans according to the strategies are developed in this work to improve the physical problem-solving ability of students through teaching process.The detail is listed as below.First,based on the problem-solving process theory from Cognitive Psychology,the procedure of physical problem-solving process is constituted in this work.And then the teaching strategies for improving students' physical problem-solving ability is proposed according to the procedure.Considering the specific teaching contents and with the orientation of teaching strategies,the teaching plans that aim to improve students' ability of solving specific physical problems are developed.
