Nowadays,there are many studies on the cultural identity,professional identity and subject identification of college students in the field of higher education.But there is some systematic research on the disciplinary cultural identity of academic graduate students.Academic graduate students have an important position in postgraduate education in China.Disciplinary culture also plays an important role in academic graduate students training.This research using content analysis method,questionnaire,and interview to answers two issues: What is the level of disciplinary cultural identity of academic graduate students? Which factors influence their disciplinary cultural identity?The conclusions of this paper included the following:(1)The total level of disciplinary cultural identity of academic graduate students is at a medium-to-high level,but it has not reached a high level of recognition.(2)The level of disciplinary cultural identity of academic graduate students is significantly different in terms of gender,academic level,grade,and academic achievement.The level of disciplinary cultural identity of male is significantly higher than female.The level of disciplinary cultural identity of doctoral students is significantly higher than master students.The academic identity of the third-grade academic graduate students is significantly higher than the first-grade academic graduate students.The level of disciplinary cultural identity of academic graduates with better academic performance is significantly higher than academic graduates with moderate academic performance and poor academic performance.(3)There is no significant difference between the level of disciplinary cultural identity of academic graduate students in terms of discipline type,work experience,and interdisciplinary experience.(4)The level of disciplinary cultural identity of academic graduate students is significantly related to factors such as “faculty support”,“important person” and “social and employment”.All of the above factors have extremely significant positive predictive effects on the totallevel of disciplinary cultural identity of academic graduate students and the level of recognition of each dimension.The support factors of the department have the greatest influence on the level of disciplinary cultural identity of academic graduate students,followed by the important person factors,and the social and employment factors.The academic tradition and inheritance of the discipline itself,and the contributions and achievements of the academic masters are also important factors influencing the level of disciplinary cultural identity of academic graduate students.Based on the result of this study,researcher puts forward the following suggestions from three aspects: academic graduate students,departments and mentors:In the academic postgraduate individual,they should accurately understand the discipline before entering the school and prepare for the study;they should actively integrate into the discipline group after the entrance to school.In terms of departments,departments should strengthen the cognition of academic graduate students on disciplines.Departments should pay attention to the practical training of academic graduate students on research methods or techniques and attach importance to the practical training of academic graduate students on research methods or techniques.Departments should provide academic resources and academic exchange opportunities for academic graduate students.In terms of tutors,they should consciously improve their academic accomplishment and research capabilities,increase their interest and guidance to academic graduate students and guide the formation of small academic groups within the division.
