With the further strengthening of globalization,the development of STEM education has increasingly become the embodiment of a country's comprehensive national strength.As the earliest advocate of STEM education in the United States,its federal government,social organizations,and universities have increasingly focused on promoting STEM education reform and development by strengthening the cultivation of STEM teachers.Among them,American universities,as the main undertakers of pre-service teacher training,play a significant role in training high-quality STEM teachers.It is precisely because American universities focus on cultivating STEM teachers that they have effectively removed the monolith hindering the development of STEM education and have also actively promoted STEM education reform.Therefore,the study of STEM teacher training programs in American universities can help us grasp the situation of international education reform and provide references for the innovation of STEM teacher training in China.Among them,the American university as the main undertaker of STEM teacher training programme,have played a significantrole in cultivating high-quality STEM teachers.In addition to reducing the huge obstacles in the development of STEM education,they have strongly promoted the reform process of STEM education in the United States.Therefore,the study of STEM teacher training programs in American universities can help us keep abreast of the new trends in international education reform,and provide references for the innovation of STEM teacher training in China.This paper mainly studies the UTeach project in the teacher training program of American universities.In order to make the research content more representative and referential,the article mainly uses case analysis method and comparative research method,and selects six sample universities in the United States as a case for comparative analysis.Firstly,we introduced the American UTeach teacher training program,sorted out the background and development process of the program,and learned the key reasons for the success of the program through the introduction of UTeach.On this basis,the six sample universities were taken as the key research objects,and their training programs,curriculum and financial support were studied more specifically,which also highlighted the advantages of the UTeach project.The UTeach project has delivered a large number of high-quality STEM teachers to the United States in a short period of time.In contrast,China's emphasis on STEM teacher training is far less than that of the United States.Therefore,while further summarizing the operational characteristics of the UTeach project,this paper also provides a reference for the development of science teachers in China: recruiting high-quality students to create and optimize the future STEM teachers;integrating the whole school strength innovation training mode through the departmental linkage;In the process,strengthen the organic combination of practice links to expand students' STEM field experience;improve the qualification program to develop alternative certification paths and set up professional growth files to improve professional development.
