In recent years,with the rapid development of science and technology and the continuous innovation of teaching methods,the concept of STEM has attracted wide attention worldwide.STEM is the abbreviation of the English first letter of science,technology,engineering and mathematics.As a new type of interdisciplinary education,STEM education focuses on science,technology,engineering and mathematics,and integrates real-life practical projects to cultivate students' STEM literacy such as scientific and technological ability,mathematical logic,problem solving and innovation ability.As a practitioner of STEM education,STEM teachers play a vital role in the cultivation of STEM talents.Therefore,many countries have introduced relevant policies to support the development of STEM teachers.However,from the current research status at home and abroad,the STEM teacher training mechanism is not yet mature,and STEM teachers face teaching difficulties.Based on this,the paper uses the methods of literature research,content analysis,investigation research and design-based research to explore the development of STEM teachers in in primary and secondary schools.Firstly,the author combines the existing literature to sort out the relevant research status at home and abroad and to determine theresearch framework.Secondly,through coding and comparatively analyzing six STEM teacher competency standards of primary and secondary schools,the author identifies five core elements of STEM teacher competency including STEM value identity,STEM subject knowledge,interdisciplinary integration competency,STEM teaching implementation competency and diversified assessment competency.Based on the core elements of STEM teacher competency,this paper constructs the training target system,and designs the training content system including STEM education concept,STEM teaching knowledge and skills,and STEM education tools combined with the training target system and existing STEM teachers' training content.Finally,this paper designs and formulates specific training programs through the survey of training objects,and carries out training and evaluation for primary and secondary school teachers in Qinghai and Liupanshui areas,in order to improve the training programs and test the effectiveness of the training.The research result indicates: the training program is feasible,the two rounds of training have certain effects,and the second round of training is better than the first round of training;the training enhanced teachers' STEM value identity,and improved teachers' STEM teaching knowledge and skills.The study will help to provide practical examples for the training of STEM teachers in primary and secondary schools in China and to provide reference for subsequent related research.by combing the STEM teaching mode and training methods at home and abroad,constructing the core elements of STEM teachers' ability in primary and secondary schools,designing training programs,and carrying out training implementation and evaluation.
