Extensive reading study firstly started in developed countries such as England and America and was developed into China after it was matured.The research of extensive reading started in China late,firstly involved in English as a second language extensive areas of study,followed by the Chinese as a mother tongue of extensive reading study.Since the study of Chinese as a foreign language started late,the extensive reading study of Chinese as a foreign language started much later.Graded reading as one of the forms of extensive reading activity,as its reading carrier,the grader reading is a product of the language development to the mature stage.The development of Chinese as a foreign language has reached a certain stage.In order to meet the needs of learners,graded readings of Chinese as a foreign language came into being.On the basis of reviewing the theories of extensive reading of Chinese and foreign literature,this paper summaries the features of reading books,and analyzes Chinese learners of overseas Chinese children by questionnaires of their parents and interviews with Chinese teachers in Datong Chinese School in Sydney,Australia.And it analyzes the current situation of overseas Chinese reading of Chinese descent and the environment for the spread of Chinese extensive books.This paper has found some shortcomings in the compliation and dissemination of Chinese reading of Chinese as a second language,and has given some suggestions.With a view to becoming a reference direction of similar research,in the hope that this paper provides a train of thought for the compilation of graded books of Chinese as a foreign language.
