In recent years,the teaching design for children's poetry using the book of "Daily Poems Reading" has been emerging and widely advocated in Malaysia mandarin-medium national primary school.Owing to the primary researcher is being teaching junior grade students and enthusiastic in teaching children's poetry,he is therefore actively participating in this kind of education.In order to effectively design the teaching approaches for children's poetry based on "Daily Poems Reading",the primary researcher decided to lay the teaching theory basis with constructivist scaffolding instruction theory,inverted pyramid teaching theory,and the theory of multiple intelligences,complemented by teaching ideology of situations-based and theme-based.The primary researcher deeply analyzed and summarized all the excellent teaching cases at local and abroad through the literature research method and the case study method.Initially,the researcher identified the teaching design frameworks and methodologies by studying large number of children's poems from China and Malaysia as well as the book of "Daily Poems Reading".Subsequently,the researcher finalized and optimized the study approaches for better experimental control of national conditions and subjects that only consisted of the junior grade of students.Ultimately,the primary researcher's teaching mentality,methodology and designs were quantitatively improved and transformed through this research.The first transformation was on the aspect of teaching ideology.Through numbers of case studies of excellent teaching in China and Malaysia combined with own teaching practices,the researcher had gained more insights into the niche of teachers and students during entire teaching and learning process.Teachers' centrality is transformed into students' centrality.Teachers become mentor in the teaching process,and driving students toward the direction of independent learning and thinking.Students should not passively and blindly learning knowledge,but take initiative to learn,open their minds,proactively questioning,expressing opinions,interact with people,use imagination and link to their livings.As for teachers,the absolute authority of teachers must be put down,letting students think about problems,express ideas,and even carry out creative activities.Under the above-mentioned teaching ideology,the teaching situation in the class will definitely get rid of rigid and conservative one-sided teaching way,and turning into two-way or multi-directional flexible and open interactive teaching.Secondly,the researcher had understood the importance of using the "learning through interaction between teachers and students" and "group learning" teaching methods also known as "learning community".This kind of learning method can help the students to create a mutually encouraging atmosphere and thus encouraging the students with weak learning ability to learn proactively.On the other hand,it also makes the students with better learning ability further strengthen their memory when helping the weak students.Because of the variety of the students' preferences and learning capabilities,the way to read the children's poems in the book of "Daily Poem Readings"should also be diversified as much as possible.In this way,students will be able to find the way they like to read and practicing on daily basis during the repetitive process of poem reading.In the interactive teaching between teachers and students or between students,teachers actively encourage students to express their opinions,exert their creativity and imagination to create body movements that explain the meanings of poem,and even writing children's poetry.Eventually,it can stimulate the whole teaching process,students' learning desires and interests.Lastly,the researcher had established a unified teaching model in the design of children's poetry teaching based on "Daily Poems Reading",and also incorporates a variety of teaching elements.Those elements include binding of picture book and children's poetry,binding of children's poetry and children's poetry,create body movements related to children's poetry,design PPT that includes poetry language knowledge practices and games,and encourage students to imitate children's poetry creation style in writing and read/recite children's poetry competitions.All of the above are based on a selection of children's poetry textbooks that are in line with childlike innocence,supplemented by various forms of teaching activities.Establishment of a higher level of language learning skills and expand its knowledge on top of students'previous learning and living experience.
