Due to the imbalance of regional, urban and rural economic development in our country at this stage,a large number of young and middle-aged labor force choose to leave the countryside and go to the cities to seek more employment opportunities. The restrictions of the household registration system make the children of these migrant workers can not enjoy equal educational opportunities, while considering the big economic costs, forcing them to leave their children in the countryside, raised by their grandparents, resulting in cross-generation education in the rural left-behind children in China is a common state. However, the existing research results show that the negative impact of cross-generation education on rural left-behind children is far greater than the positive impact,so it is very urgent to think about how to improve the quality of cross-generation education so as to make it play a greater value.Based on this, the thesis adopts the method of narrative inquiry to conduct an in-depth study on the problems of cross-generation education of left-behind children. In the process of living with the selected cross-generation family, the daily education stories of research objects were collected by observation records and informal interviews, and the representative cross-generation education stories were selected for presentation and interpretation. Finally, this paper analyzes the problems reflected in the cross-generation education story and tries to put forward some optimization strategies. The thesis consists of five parts:The first part is the introduction,The background, significance and theoretical basis of the research are introduced,as well as the basic concepts involved in the thesis, the related research reviews at home and abroad, the research design and so on.The second part enters the research site.In this stage, the author establishes contact with the research objects, obtain the trust of the research objects, and prepare for the next step of participatory observation. In addition, through interviews with the teachers and family members of the research objects to get a more comprehensive and objective understanding of the cross-generation education status of the subjects. The third part presents the cross-generation educational stories and influences collected by the author in the common life with the research objects, and selects representative educational stories for interpretation.Specifically, through the daily contact with the research objects, the daily cross-generation educational events, grandparents' educational behavior and the reaction of the subjects were observed and recorded. After the data collection work was completed, further screening was started, and finally the representative education stories were selected for presentation and interpretation. The fourth part analysis and thinking about the causes of left-behind children's cross-generation education problems, mainly from their parents and grandparents, school and community four aspects to illustrate, find out the support and difficulties of each aspect in the treatment of left-behind children's cross-generation education. In the last part, the author tries to put forward some operable optimization strategies for each related subject. In order to optimize the quality of rural left-behind children's cross-generation education when unable to alter the existing cross-generation education situation, make it to play a greater value.
