Village is an important constituent unit of Chinese society.Rural social change is one of the major themes in the development of society.With the combined effect of the new forces of modern media and economic,policy,and cultural factors,the rural community is experiencing complex and profound structural transformation.Correspondingly,the practice of interpersonal communication also presents new characteristics.Social relations is not only a microcosm of changes in social structure,but also the core of interpersonal communication.Therefore,understanding and grasping the relationship between social interaction is an important dimension for examining the social changes in rural areas,and it is also the foothold to understand the interactive relationship between the media and the countryside.It is also the key to exploring interpersonal communication in rural areas.Through the field investigation of an island fishing village in Shandong,this paper intends to link the macroscopic social structure transformation with the microcosmic inter-individual communication and explore the changes and characteristics of rural social relations.This paper demonstrates the structural transformation of traditional island fishing villages under the influence of various dynamics from the perspective of rural boundary changes.It focuses on the unique catalytic role played by modern media.And then from the perspective of interpersonal communication,this paper observed and analyzed the social interaction characteristics of island fishing village.Through empirical investigation and logical analysis,the author found that the social interactions,which are driven by factors of productivity and promoted by the forces of the media,changed in many aspects,such as quantity,connotation,intermediary,space and node.The characteristics include the diversification of contact objects,the rationalization of communication concepts,the complexity of relationship networks,the instrumentalization of communication methods,the three-dimensional communication space,and the decentralization of communication centers.
