Scientific thinking is an advanced thinking form based on objective evidence and logical reasoning.In 2016,a draft of the Ordinary Senior Hight School Biology Curriculum Standard for comment emphasized the importance of developing students’ scientific thinking in the teaching process;Besides,it encouraged students to think independently and analyze problem rationally;And it need teachers to train students’ rigorous thinking process to form the thinking habits of respecting facts and positivism.Meanwhile,scientific thinking is an important component of core competence in biology,and its level of development influences the development level of core competence to some extent.Scientific thinking,as a process of thinking,could be assessed through the explicitness of media such as test questions.As a standardized test method,the proposition of college entrance examination questions is centered on core competence and focuses on the development level of students’ scientific thinking.SOLO is an observable structure of learning achievement,which can judge the type of thinking ability and the level of development of students according to their answers to a specific question.It also can be applied to the division and evaluation of scientific thinking at different levels.Therefore,this paper selects biological college entrance examination questions from 2015 to 2017 as the research object,using SOLO classification theory to analyze the evaluation mode of scientific thinking in the college entrance examination paper,and provides guidance for middle school biology teachers to scientifically evaluate students’ scientific thinking.This research uses the literature analysis method to sort out the research status of the scientific thinking evaluation and biological scientific thinking level at home and abroad;Then defines the concept of scientific thinking through induction,and describes the characteristics of four levels of scientific thinking according to the requirements of academic quality standards.Based on this,four types of scientific thinking,namely induction and generalization,deduction and reasoning,model and modeling,and critical thinking,are adopted to construct a system of biological scientific thinking types.By analyzing the type and level of scientific thinking that students need to solve test questions,this paper makes a one-to-one correspondence between the level of scientific thinking in biological test questions and the SOLO classification theory.The result shows that the 1-4 levels of scientific thinking in the biological test questions can correspond to the four different levels in the SOLO classification theory.This paper uses SOLO level-Scientific thinking level to analyze the biological questions of Jiangsu college entrance extamination from 2015 to 2017.The result shows that,the biological questions of Jiangsu college entrance examination from 2015 to 2017 are mainly designed around Muhistructurai-level and Scientific-level,and tend to examine the accumulation of students’ knowledge and the comprehensive analysis,application of knowledge as well.However,there is an upward trend in the level of Relational-level,which indicates that the examination requirements for students’ scientific thinking types have increased,and the questions which are more difficulty based on the level of Extended abstract also occupies a fixed proportion.This would not only achieve the purpose of evaluation for most students,but also gave full play to the selection function of the college entrance examination.The analysis above showed that,SOLO theory could be applied to evaluate the level of scientific thinking in the biological test questions.This study hoped to provide new ideas for different scientific thinking evaluations and test questions for biology,and it had a certain guiding significance for innovating biology teachers,scientific thinking training methods and realizing the improvement of students’ scientific thinking development level.
