Sociological Study On Junior School Students Renting Outside Of School In Western Rural Areas

Residences dispersal and traffic inconvenience make it a long way to get education for students in Chinese western rural area,to make it easy for students to get compulsory education without delay,constructing dormitory buildings which never exsited before in the former campus seems to be the best choice that the government could make,that is to say,former middle-schools which weren’t able to afford places for students to live now become boarding schools.With the urbanization process,surplus rural labor force leaving and more and more stay-at-home children filling the campus up,organizations like schools inevitably have to bear the duty to socialize those teenagers and children whose fathers and mothers are away from home,which,in some way,make the amount of boarding schools rise rapidly.But in reality suitably socializing teenagers and making it easy to get education for students by constructing dormitory buildings seem to be a wishful thinking,in some area students who need to take a long road to get to school don’t board at school,on the contrary they pay for living outside of the school,though school dormitory is completely free of charge,besides if boarding at school,some welfare will be given.Thus lots of dormrooms left unused,manpower and financial resources that has been invested in constructing dormitory buildings turn out to be useless oenaments,the reasons behing are worth pondering.In this paper,a rural boarding school in Zhenxiong county,Zhaotong city,YunNan province will be used to investigate why students there prefer boarding outside of school.Based on the investigation,the reason is multifactorial,parents、teachers and school managers all have something to do with students boarding outside of school.Firstly,parents have low educational expectation to their own children,they don’t notice that where to board at has much influence on their children,meanwhile parents there don’t trust in local educational resources and arbitrarily think that boarding at school has negative impact on children’s personal safety and property security.Secondly,alienation of compulsory education system in local area leads to students’low scholastic achievements,unreasonable educational management,such as class reorganization which stratifies students and teachers,have negative influence on teachers’ work enthusiasm,thus,teachers don’t want to do their best to manage students.Thirdly,in the situation of getting insufficient rural elementary education input from government,some school administrators took negative measures on students’ boarding to relieve school’s burden.They do their best to get to a point where students could board at wherever they want,a point where school could meet the specification of superior departments,and a point where they could lower all kinds of expenses.According to the investigation,author of this paper hold the view that students boarding outside of school represents alienation of local compulsory educational policy and educational weakness.
