This paper researched teaching of Xianyu idioms by taking "Developing Chinese Intermediate Spoken(2)" as an example that is the textbook of "Developing Chinese" series.The research contents mainly include the arrangement and teaching of Xianyu idioms in teaching materials,the analysis of difficulties in learning Xianyu idioms,and the prone errors when using them.In addition,we designed questionnaires for teachers and students to investigate the teaching situation of Xianyu idioms and explored the efficient teaching methods of Xianyu idioms.The research results show that the Xianyu idioms in textbooks account for a large proportion of the total number of idioms.And compared with other types of idioms,Xianyu idioms are more difficult to learn.Due to the ambiguous understanding of foreign students for the meaning of Xianyu idioms,it is easy for them to cause the repetition of Xianyu idioms with other elements in the sentence and form redundant phenomena in the use of Xianyu idioms.Therefore,this article proposes a series of teaching methods to promote the research of Xianyu idioms in Chinese teaching of foreign students,mainly including the introduction of Xianyu Idioms through audiovisual,explanation of the meaning of Xianyu Idioms by means of morpheme decomposition,explanation of the grammar of Xian Yu's idioms in the context by way of example sentences,the strengthening and consolidation of Xianyu idioms by continuous practice.This workcan provide useful reference for the teaching of Chinese as a foreign language.
