A Report On C-E Translation Of Atmosphere Design(Excerpts)from The Perspective Of Skopos Theory

Nowadays,with the economic globalization spreading to all social fields,countries have recognized the importance of enhancing cultural soft power to international competition.China has vigorously promoted its culture industry.This book belongs to the artistic text of informative type.And its purpose is to facilitate the reading and learning of art majors or art-related practitioners.Art design English has its linguistic characteristics.The translator should not only consider the relevant professional knowledge of the target readers,but also pay attention to the fluency and faithfulness of professional vocabulary and content expression.Translators are required not to be too rigid in the form of the original text but to be careful to consider its specific purpose and function.The first three chapters of Atmosphere Design are chosen as the translation text.The dissertation explores the application of skopostheorie and its three principles in the C-E translation of artistic texts.In addition,the dissertation discusses the selection of translation techniques under the guidance of skopostheorie in the translation of artistic texts.Skopostheorie holds that the content of translation practice is determined by the purpose and the function of the target text.Therefore,based on the faithful expression of the original information,the translator should flexibly select translation techniques to convert into target texts in order to facilitate the readers to understand the atmosphere design.It also disseminates the Chinese traditional culture and modern civilization to a certain extent and strengthens the exchange between Chinese and western cultures.In the dissertation,the translator firstly introduces the atmosphere design and skopostheorie.Then,translation techniques are applied to case study under the skopostheorie including diction and amplification on lexical level,conversion on syntactic level and division and combination on discoursal level.The translator indicates the gains,inadequacies and suggestions to promote future translation work.
