The Report Of Patent Abstract Translation Under The Guidance Of Skopos Theory

In recent years,with the international development and the improvement of people's knowledge level,more and more people realize the importance of protecting intellectual property rights,as a result the frequency of patent applications is increasing.The international patent exchanges have become increasingly frequent,which increased the demand for patent translation.Patent abstract is an essential part of the patent,and the relatively short length of each has clear characteristics,which also makes the patent translation process is different from other text.This report is under the guidance of Skopos theory,and gives a detailed introduction of the basic features and structure of the patent abstract as well as its each part.Also,providing four principles for the patent abstract translation,while the author combined her internship experience in Beijing Yuzhiyunfan Technology Co.,Ltd.,randomly selected 50 pieces of patent abstract from 500 pieces,most of them belongs to computer field,as case for analysis,in order to provide some translation techniques on the lexical level and syntax level.Through the practice,the writer found that in the translation process we should combine the free translation and the literal translation,and based on this to choose corresponding translation techniques while confirm to related rules in order to achieve our purpose.For example,we should pay attention to the use of articles and singular and plural nouns as well as some other patent abstract unique characteristics.
