As an important component of language teaching and learning process,Language testing not only tests and evaluates the effectiveness of teaching and learning,but also provides feedback and reference for teaching and learning.In addition,it exerts influence on teaching and learning.Without the unified standard in the previous English language tests in China,the results cannot be mutually recognized.On June 1st,2018,National English Proficiency Scales of China was officially implemented.Languageusing oriented,National English Proficiency Scales constructs a multi-level indicator system and provides a comprehensive,clear and detailed description for the competence characteristics of each level.At present,there is less empirical studies on the usage of National English Proficiency Scales in secondary-vocational English teaching.This study aims to explore whether National English Proficiency Scales of China has practical value in secondary-vocational English teaching and how to use the scale to carry out secondary-vocational English teaching to improve students' English learning.By using the framework of National English Proficiency Scales of China,the author intends to guide secondary-vocational English and solve the following problems in English teaching.1.How does National English Proficiency Scales of China guide secondaryvocational English teaching?2.What teaching effect will be when using the National English Proficiency Scales of China to guide secondary-vocational English teaching?3.How to use National English Proficiency Scales of China to guide,evaluate and promote secondary-vocational English teaching?Taking 100 first-year students of two classes in Shandong Qingdao No.2 Health School as the research subject,The author has conducted a semester(five months)teaching experiment by using the methods of questionnaire,classroom observation,interview and experiment.Survey by questionnaire can collect students' English learning situation objectively and truly in a short time.The results of classroom observation are convenient for researchers to conduct systematic quantitative processing and comparative analysis.Interview method is flexible,which helps the author to obtain more extensive information about English classroom in secondary vocational schools.By comparing the results of the pre-test and post-test,the experimental method shows the effect of using scale to guide teaching.During the experiment,the experimental class was directed by the scale,while the control class was still directed by the traditional teaching method.Before the experiment,the author conducted a questionnaire survey among the students in the experimental class and a pre-test on the comprehensive English competence was made in the two classes.During the experiment,English classroom observation was made on the experimental class.Five months later an post-test was made again,and a questionnaire survey was sent to the experimental class.The results are scientific.The study results show that the design of scale covers the English proficiency of secondary vocational school students.The interest and motivation of the students in the experimental class have been greatly enhanced through the teaching guided by the scale.After the experiment,the comprehensive English ability of the experimental class is improved to a greater extent than that of the control class.The study results also show that the secondary-vocational English teaching guided by the scale can better promote students' comprehensive English ability especially their pragmatic competence.English teachers in secondary vocational schools use the scale scientifically and promote teaching by evaluation will have a beneficial impact in teaching content,teaching methods,teaching evaluation methods and so on.The research value of this study is innovative in applying the competency framework of the scale to secondary-vocational English teaching,it still has some limitations in view of a series of practical factors such as limited experimental time and sampling scale.
